The project explores the architecture of Russian Orthodox icons. By treating form as content, the space of the icon, which usually serves as decoration, takes center stage. Grass, mountains, plants, houses, land, and flowers dictate a new narrative and remind us of a life that, one way or another, runs as a common thread through the lives of all saints and living beings. The project consists of paintings created based on the study of architectural representation, the properties of reverse perspective typical of ancient Russian and Byzantine iconography.
